Media statement regarding Ian Paterson

Published on 09/10/2024

A spokesperson for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which merged with Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust in 2018, said:

“We wholly condemn Ian Paterson’s actions and his appalling treatment of the many patients who put their trust in him between 1993 and 2011.

“Our thoughts remain with the patients and their families, who suffered due to the horrendous treatment they experienced from Ian Paterson.

“We will continue to fully support those affected and assist with HM Coroner’s investigations.

“Due to legal proceedings, it is not appropriate for us to comment further at this time.”

If you, or a member of your family, were a patient of Ian Paterson and have any queries or concerns, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) either by email or by telephone.
