The Anaesthetics team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) work with consultants, training grade and speciality doctors and allied healthcare professionals, to deliver anaesthesia and pain management services across all four hospitals within the Trust.
Our primary role is to monitor patients’ progress during their time in hospital, make sure that the correct anaesthetics are administered, that the patient is in a proper state of health to undergo the operation, and to ensure that care delivered after the operation is of a high standard.
From blood tests and consultation before your operation, through to pain-relief monitoring during procedures and post-anaesthesia care, our team provide a complete package of pain management services, offering patients peace of mind.
Training and academic associations
As a department, we provide training to medical and non-medical staff in various aspects of medicine and nursing.
We are a part of the Warwickshire School of Anaesthesia providing postgraduate training in anaesthesia, critical care and pain management.
