Medical Physics

The Medical Physics Department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is largely associated with the applications of ionising and non-ionising radiation to diagnostic and therapeutic medicine. These applications principally include the physics of radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and radiology, as well as the radiation protection which is applicable to all uses of radiation.

The medical physics service comprises of:

  • nuclear medicine 
  • radiotherapy physics 
  • Radiation Protection Services (RRPPS) 
  • computer science
