Tissue Viability

The Tissue Viability (TV) service is a Trust-wide, nurse-led service, providing specialist wound management, care and advice for inpatients across all specialties and divisions. It provides holistic, multi-disciplinary care, working with other specialist teams as required.

The TV nurses provide expert advice and support to all staff on caring for patients with all types of wounds, including:

  • pressure ulcers
  • leg ulcers
  • diabetic foot wounds
  • surgical wounds, and
  • fungating tumours

The team plans and delivers a wide range of educational activities, produces Trust guidelines relating to tissue viability, carries out TV related audits and develops and maintains the wound product formulary.
