Non-medical referring

The non-medical referrer (NMR) application process is entirely digital.

To apply, please complete the NMR enquiry form and review the flowchart for an explanation of the process.

Application process description

Step 1: NMR enquiry form completed

To apply, complete the NMR enquiry form:

After the enquiry form has been completed, proceed to step 2.

Step 2: enquiry decision

A decision will be made on the enquiry within 10 working days.

  • If accepted, proceed to step 3
  • If refused, proceed to step 9

Step 3: application details emailed

The NMR team will email the following application details to the applicant:

  • NMR SOP
  • MS NMR application
  • MRI safety training
  • NMR e-IR(ME)R required modules
  • NMR e-IR(ME)R activity report instructions

Proceed to step 4.

Step 4: complete and return application

The applicant will need to:

  • read the NMR SOP and NMR e-IR(ME)R activity report instructions
  • collate the MSNMR application
  • provide evidence of completing MRI safety training and NMR e-IR(ME)R required modules

The completed application should be emailed to the NMR mailbox.

Once the application has been returned, proceed to step 5.

Step 5: application reviewed

The application will be reviewed by the NMR admin and clinical teams within 28 days.

Proceed to step 6.

Step 6: additional information required?

  • If yes, proceed to step 10
  • If no, proceed to step 7

Step 7: access and entitlement

An access and entitlement letter for PICS and ICE requesting will be emailed to the applicant and nominated clinical supervisor.

Proceed to step 8.

Step 8: register updated

The NMR register will be updated with the relevant information.

Step 9: refusal letter

A refusal letter will be emailed to the applicant and nominated clinical supervisor.

Step 10: return additional information

The required additional information should be collated and emailed to the NMR mailbox.

Return to step 5.
