Patients with learning disabilities

If you are a carer and require advice, please contact the Learning Disabilities team from Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:00.

Supporting carers

Carers who help people with learning disabilities to make decisions about their care can provide support outside of visiting times such as ward rounds and mealtimes.

Carers also have the possibility of staying in hospital with the person they care for but this will need to be discussed with the nurse in charge.

Hospital passport

People with learning disabilities coming into hospital should bring their hospital passport.

Hospital passports provide nursing and medical staff with information about the person they are caring for and the help they need.

Please complete your hospital passport before coming to hospital. Passports are available to download or can be collected from your named nurse.
