Carcinoid heart disease

Carcinoid heart disease is a highly complex clinical entity. Its investigation and management requires close collaboration between the neuroendocrine tumour specialists and experienced cardiac teams in order to make safe interventions to prolong patients’ lives.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is the only large Centre that has the NET Team, high quality support services and Cardiac Team under one roof.

We have created a multi-disciplinary team of highly experienced experts including:

  • NET Clinical Nurse Specialists
  • NET dieticians
  • NET physicians
  • liver interventional radiologists
  • HPB surgeons
  • HPB anaesthetists
  • NET cardiologists
  • NET cardiac anaesthetists
  • NET cardiac surgeons.

We manage patients through a dedicated multi-disciplinary Carcinoid Heart Disease Clinic in The Centre for Rare Diseases at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB).
