Doctors

The Postgraduate Medical Education department provides education, support and guidance to all trainees based at Good Hope, Heartlands, Queen Elizabeth and Solihull hospitals. We have a focused and helpful approach to training, education and well-being.

The department is responsible for coordinating all postgraduate medical training programmes, including the management of the foundation programme, the IMT programme, and various specialty programmes. We also support and host regional teaching days and offer specialist clinical skills and simulation events.

Each specialty has a dedicated educational lead/college tutor who provides support and guidance to trainees. This lead also provides a link into the relevant postgraduate specialty school.

The department also manages the February, July and August junior doctors induction programmes and supports study leave.

We run monthly medical education meetings and regular educational governance meetings where training issues are discussed and fed back to the Trust Board. We are keen to ensure that trainees are encouraged to represent a number of committees throughout University Hospitals Birmingham.
