Parking passes and permits

Cars entering Car Park A at QEHB

Due to car parking pressures for parking on all of our sites, there are waiting lists for staff car parking permits and eligibility criteria applies.

Eligibility criteria

Good Hope, Heartlands and Solihull hospital eligibility criteria is available on the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust intranet, which is only accessible via a Trust PC or VPN.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham staff who work core hours (08:00 – 18:00) and live within a 30 minute public transport journey are not eligible for a car parking permit.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Medical Campus has a capped number of car parking permits (which includes parking spaces for Birmingham Women’s Hospital and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust facilities) and once this is reached a waiting list is introduced on a first come first served basis.

If eligible, staff will receive a car parking permit that will allow them access to staff car parks.

Staff car parking tariff

Government funding for free staff car parking came to an end on Thursday 31 March 2022 and from the start of May 2022, the Trust introduced a tariff of 1% of salary, capped at a salary of £70,000 – regardless of the site at which permit holders are based.

The tariff will range from £15 per month (75p per day for Band 1 and 2 colleagues), up to a maximum of £58 per month (£2.90 a day). The charge is automatically deducted from salaries.

Under the old charging arrangements, tariffs were different for each site, however to ensure fairness for all staff this has now been standardised as above. For part time staff, the tariff is proportional.
