What to do in an emergency

The Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre (BMEC)'s Eye Emergency Department provides Birmingham's emergency service for serious eye problems, such as:

  • eye injury
  • sudden loss of vision

The departments sees lots of patients every day and can get very busy. If you have an eye emergency, please seek help as soon as you can.

The Eye Emergency Department at BMEC is not a 24-hour service. For opening times, please check their website or call the department.

Outside opening times, please attend your nearest A&E department if you require emergency eye treatment.

The Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre is part of Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.
