Symptoms commonly related to the bowel

It should be stressed that the symptoms listed below are usually nothing to worry about and may not be related specifically to your bowel. However if any of these symptoms persist for more than six weeks, you should get in touch with your GP.

Symptoms include:

  • abdominal pain
  • anal/rectal pain
  • change in bowel habit
  • constipation
  • diarrhoea
  • difficulty opening bowels
  • incontinence
  • prolapse
  • rectal bleeding
  • symptoms of anaemia
  • weight loss
