Ward 2 inpatients , Good Hope Hospital

Ward 2 is a 26 bedded Gynaecology and early pregnancy specialist ward located on the second floor of the Fothergill block. We care for women who need to stay overnight following elective procedures, as well as emergency admissions.  

We work with all areas of the multi-disciplinary team to provide personalised, holistic care. 

The team includes ward nurses and sisters, a ward flow coordinator, the complex discharge team, junior doctors, registrars, consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) within oncology and early pregnancy, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and specialist teams with expertise in areas such as acute pain, tissue viability and palliative care.

  • Providing specialist knowledge within gynaecology and early pregnancy 
  • Caring for patients that are miscarrying and providing support 
  • Caring for patients who have an ectopic pregnancy and providing support 
  • Caring for pregnancy women with hyperemesis gravidarum 
  • Providing pre- and post-operative care for both elective and emergency cases 
  • Providing care to patients who require admission for menorrhagia or post-menopausal bleeding 
  • Caring for patients with complications relating to a gynaecology diagnose such as endometriosis, fibroids or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) 
  • Caring for Gynaecology oncology patients
